Banshee
Autonomous Loitering Munition
Banshee is a next-generation autonomous loitering munition currently under development. Designed for precision engagement in GPS- and communications-denied environments, Project Banshee represents a breakthrough in Embodied AI, cost-effective lethality, and precision harm mitigation.
The Next Frontier of Autonomous Precision Warfare
Banshee redefines the balance between cost, capability, and control in modern warfare. Engineered as a reusable, autonomous loitering munition, it delivers precision strike effects at a fraction of the traditional cost per engagement. Its compact design, low-cost architecture, and integrated AI/ML avionics enable repeatable missions, transforming how the Department of War and allied forces achieve affordable, sustainable overmatch in contested domains.
Key Features & Capabilities
Autonomous Target Recognition
Powered by the GuideTech BRAIN avionics and advanced AI/ML algorithms, Banshee autonomously detects, tracks, and engages targets using EO/IR sensors for day and night operations.
GPS- & Comms-Denied Navigation
Banshee executes precision missions without GPS, ensuring reliable operation even in heavily contested electromagnetic environments.
Reusable Strike Design
Unlike disposable systems, Banshee can execute multiple sorties. It delivers a 3-lb. warhead on target, then returns to base for rearming. Dramatically lowering the cost per effect.
Compact and Cost-Effective
Banshee achieves the effect of systems that cost many times as much. Its 20 km range and precision terminal guidance make it a force multiplier for both offensive and defensive missions.
Modular, Multi-Mission Flexibility
Configured for ISR, target identification, and strike, Banshee supports diverse mission sets across the modern battlespace.
Advancing Toward TRL-9 Operational Readiness
Currently under active development and testing, Banshee is progressing toward TRL-9 with hardware-in-loop testing and flight-test validation.
Operational Scenarios
Banshee is designed for operational flexibility across multiple mission profiles. In high-threat, GPS-denied environments, it provides an affordable, autonomous precision option to complement manned and unmanned systems. Typical use cases include:
Precision strike on light vehicles, radar sites and artillery positions
ISR and target mapping to support follow-on operations and battle damage assessment.
Defensive suppression and persistent area denial through re-taskable loitering coverage.
Collaborative swarm employment when networked with other autonomous systems via mesh communications
Strategic Advantage
By combining embodied AI with cost-effective reusability, Banshee will enable the U.S. and allied forces to maintain overmatch in both resource-constrained and technology-contested battlespaces. Each Banshee system contributes to a larger force-multiplying ecosystem, enhancing readiness, reducing risk to personnel, and redefining how precision effects are delivered.
